The purpose of this book is to help develop strong hands and flexible fingers. The idea is to learn two or three exercises at a time, which should be played each day before practising. Only when these are mastered should you add another. When all in the first group are mastered, the next group may be introduced. Many of these exercises may be transposed to different keys.

The first six chapters explain the basic principles of both tube- and parallel-plate precipitators, and the processes of dust charging and collection. There follows a discussion of the properties of dust, with emphasis on the problems encountered with both high- and low-resistivity dusts. Later chapters deal with electrode design and alignment, and the question of safety for power station personnel. Finally, strategies for the maintenance of existing equipment and the procurement of new precipitators are evaluated
