Architettura e Urbanistica
Photographs by Simon Mcbride. Scriptum Editions 2007, cm.17x18, pp.168, ill.col. hardcover, dustjacket. Coll.Mini Lifestyle Library. Traditional Japanese architecture emphasizes economy of design and an unsurpassed sensitivity to the natural environment. And a traditional Japanese home with its freshly woven tatami mats, sliding shoji screens, and exposed wooden beams is the height of this art form. This study reveals a unique aesthetic through stunning photographs and insightful descriptions. Discover the simple proportions based on the square of the tatami mat; the fluid floor plan created by movable screens; the rich textures from the combination of indigenous woods, straw, and paper; and the use of nature itself to enhance the home. This beautifully photographed book captures the essence of Japanese architectural elegance, whether at a traditional inn, an imperial villa, or a garden pavilion.

Architettura e Urbanistica
New York, Rizzoli International 2006, cm.25x26, pp.216, num.figg.a col.nt. hardcover. Vivid colors, rustic simplicity, and the textural contrasts of wood, terra-cotta, and stucco are the hallmarks of the casual elegance of classic Spanish houses. The Spanish approach to residential style is a mixture of luxury and rusticity-wooden beams complement whitewashed ceilings, and worn leather furniture is set off against Moorish arches and wrought ironwork. The vibrant photos and detailed, practical text explore all the elements that become integral parts of a living space, from windows to doors, floors to ceilings, furniture to accessories and even gardens. From romantic homes in Spain's woodsy sierras to grand manors in the southern plains, many of these estates boast unusual features like hidden courtyard gardens or secluded balconies. None are ever open to the public.

Architettura e Urbanistica
Photography by Andreas Einsiedel. Scriptum Editions 2007, cm.17x18, pp.166, ill.col. hardcover, dustjacket. Coll.Mini Lifestyle Library. With its houses built of rough or cut stone or rendered and washed with color, there is simplicity and honesty about the vernacular architecture of Provençe that lures people from all over the world to this most acclaimed and frequently visited region of France. Provençe is often described as being human in scale as well as Virgilian?having a classical poise and balance where proportions and values seem right. Its homes and houses certainly fit this description. Stone, tile, and timber combine harmoniously, creating nostalgia for a simpler, rural way of life anchored by the sense of permanence that old houses bring. Rural domestic architecture evolved from the purely practical considerations of local building materials and as a defense against people and the elements. These traditions continued and outside influences and architectural fashions were slow to move south. Today, these pictured farmhouses, townhouses, and village houses and their gardens command worldwide famous price values that would astound their previous owners.

Architettura e Urbanistica
New York, Thames & Hudson 2004, cm.26x25,5, pp.216, ill.col. hardcover, dustjacket. The English House is a vivid photographic tour of the private homes and lifestyles of the storied English countryside that offers England's rich span of architectural and interior styles as wonderfully inspiring and intiguing examples of current influential decorating trends. Whether a charming and humble cottage or a grand Georgian and Palladian manor house, all the homes featured in this stunning book illustrate the epitome of styles that define the English house. The delightful text details each house's quirks while highlighting the decorating approaches and design ideas-startling juxtapositions, new takes on tradition, witty visual puns, and bold new combinations. This is an ideal book for any anglophile and is equally appealing to anyone with an interest in interior decoration, with many design ideas that easily translate into interiors on either side of the Atlantic. Sally Griffiths started writing after her own home was featured in British House & Garden 20 years ago. She runs a photo library called Red Cover and is the author of The English Country Cottage.

Architettura e Urbanistica
Place Des Victoires 2003, cm.27,5x32, pp.240, ill.a col.

Architettura e Urbanistica
Roma, Officina Ed. 1978, cm.15,5x24, pp.158, 123 figg.bn.ft. br.cop.fig. Coll.Officina Tre.
