Abstract: Questo libro studia poeti (Ungaretti, Saba, Montale, Cattafi) e critici (Muscetta e Marchese) all’insegna delle problematiche soggiacenti all’endiadi del titolo. / This book is a study about poets (Ungaretti, Saba, Montale, Cattafi) and critics (Muscetta and Marchese) in the spirit of the themes underlying the hendiadys in the title. Analysis proceeds by interpreting texts often related to Pascal’s meditations on the concepts of infinite and spatial point, and to Leopardi’s Infinito. The basic perspective is European literature from Schleiermacher (the great Romantic theoretician of the finite and infinite) to Baudelaire’s «aspiration towards the infinite».
