Abstract: I saggi analizzano i testi poetici di alcuni celebri orato`ri settecenteschi e intendono proporre un filone di ricerca ancora poco curato dalla critica artistica e musicale, colmando la lacuna causata piu` di tre secoli or sono dal preconcetto illuministico che intendeva liberare la produzione letteraria, artistica e musicale dal «religioso». Le opere vengono proposte secondo la tematica del quadro biblico concernente la creazione dell’universo, le profezie messianiche, la passione, morte e risurrezione di Gesu` Cristo. / The five essays collected in this volume analyze the poetic texts of some renowned eighteenth-century orators and suggest a field of research still poorly handled by artistic and musical critics, thus bridging the gap caused by the Illuminist preconception which intended to free the literary, artistic and musical production from the «religious». The works are presented according to the following Biblical themes: the creation of the universe, the Messianic prophecies, the Passion, death and Resurrection of Christ.
