Abstract: Edizione critica di un dramma anonimo rappresentato per la prima volta al Teatro Adelphi di Londra nel 1835, attribuito ora per la prima volta a John Baldwin Buckstone. Nell’introduzione M. Serena Marchesi tratta delle origini del mito di Robert Macaire, delle sue riscritture, della genesi della versione di Buckstone sullo sfondo delle altre opere del commediografo, delineando infine la storia del primo allestimento della pièce nel suo contesto. / Critical edition of an unpublished anonymous play, first performed at the Adelphi Theatre (London) in 1835, now for the first time attributed to John Baldwin Buckstone. In the Introduction Marchesi traces the origins of the myth of Robert Macaire and its literary rewritings, discusses Buckstone’s version in the framework of his oeuvre, and provides a detailed historical reconstruction of the first production of the play in its context.
