Abstract: After a restoration lasting more than seventy years, Bonamico Buffalmacco's Triumph of Death, the large fresco that decorates one of the walls of Pisa's Camposanto Monumentale, was returned in 2018 in satisfactory readability, allowing us to fully appreciate that we are dealing with a powerfully expressive painting, one of the pinnacles of the fourteenth century. This volume presents a series of studies on Buffalmacco's work, coinciding with the completion of the fresco's restoration and repositioning.
