Abstract: Orchids - The Complete Grower's Guide covers all aspects of cultivating orchids. It is suitable both for the beginner starting out, as well as for the more committed orchid enthusiast looking to try some of the more unusual species available. The authors, backed by years of hands-on experience, take an in-depth look at orchid growing today. Areas covered include a comprehensive background to the orchid and its history together with information on hybridisation and the conservation of rare and threatened species in the wild. On the practical side there is down-to-earth advice with step-by-step instructions on the care of orchids for the amateur and the more advanced gardener: watering, feeding, pests, greenhouse cultivation, re-potting, root care and compost are amongst the many subject areas covered. Superb, specially commissioned photographs accompany the text and reveal the intrinsic beauty of these exotic plants.

Accademia di belle arti di Brera, Sala NApoleonica, 9 febbraio 2010-4/5 ,aggio 2011. A cura di Paola Salvi. Poggio a Caiano (po), CB ed. 2012, cm.16,5x23,5, pp.256, brossura con bandelle. The most recent contributions on Vitruvian Man, always subject of continuous studies and research, derive from studies of Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan (2010-2011). These studies are collected in the book Approfondimenti sull’uomo Vitruviano di Leonardo da Vinci by Paola Salvi, deputy Director of Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera and professor of anatomy. In these contributions, all written by scholars of Leonardo, many aspects have been investigated, for example the harmonic values and proportion of this figure, the construction of the design and its derivations by Vitruvius and by Leon Battista Alberti. The theme of harmony (including music) and the constant dialogue between the human body and the space which it defines, measures and lives, naturally made the Vitruvian Man of Leonardo object of reflection and artistic inspiration. In this book appear some of the most significant `exempla’ that emerge in the work of artists from different backgrounds, including some exponents of our contemporary art.
