This C Level manual builds on material covered in The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship: Basics for Beginners/D Level. Ma questo Michele Sparacino non esiste davvero. È il risultato della fantasia di Liborio Sparuto, un giornalista pigro e bugiardo che, per spiegare ai lettori i fatti che sconvolgono Vigata, non trova di meglio che inventarsi questa imprendibile figura di fuorilegge. E però c'è anche un Michele Sparacino in carne e ossa, nato "alla mezzanotti spaccata tra il tri e il quattro di ghinnaro" del 1898.
