Vi sono esaminate inoltre le interpretazioni nell’illuminismo francese, nella filosofia kantiana e nella filosofia della natura di Schelling ed Hegel. / The contributions gathered here investigate the historical evolution of the polysemous term «matter» from Greek philosophy to Gnosticism, from Christian philosophies to Medieval Latin dictionaries, to the Renaissance. The Modern Age period is investigated by analysing texts of Telesio and Bacon, as well as 17th-century science and philosophical systems. Also investigated are the interpretations found in the French Enlightenment, in Kant’s philosophy, and Schelling’s and Hegel’s philosophy of nature.
