Forse non tutti sanno che i soldi non versati in Italia al Fisco corrispondono a 7 punti percentuali del Prodotto interno lordo. Se tutti gli evasori pagassero le tasse, infatti, gli italiani avrebbero in tasca 100 miliardi di euro in più all'anno, circa 8 miliardi e mezzo al mese. Ma, soprattutto, non tutti conoscono l'inesauribile fantasia creativa di chi froda il fisco: esiste un paese, Antartictland, paradiso fiscale virtuale per chi non vuole pagare le tasse, fondato nel cuore del polo Sud, con tanto di bandiera e moneta; si è arrivati ad allegare materassi ai giornali per sfruttare il favorevole regime fiscale concesso all'editoria; il settore delle pompe funebri tocca livelli record di evasione tanto che si dovrebbe dedurre che al Nord un morto su due si sotterra con le proprie mani mentre al Sud si sale a due su tre. Tragedia e commedia, dunque. Un campionario surreale di giochi di prestigio e trucchi diffusi in tutta Italia, regione per regione, nessuno escluso, privati, sia famosi che sconosciuti, e aziende, sia piccole che grandi. La prima inchiesta puntuale, rigorosa, documentata, che racconta un malcostume talmente diffuso da non essere neppure più percepito. Anzi, che sembra perfino legittimato.

Summary: This book is the result of a research project on the Valadier workshop. The main objective of this project was clearly defined from the outset - to provide a better understanding of the activities undertaken by this family-run workshop, which operated in Rome throughout the eighteenth and part of the nineteenth centuries. We have sought to do this by publishing a relevant set of drawings, manuscripts and pieces relating to this workshop, with the aim of bringing them to the public in general and awakening the interest of the academic community in particular. As for the large number of drawings reproduced in this book, almost all of them belong to Antichita Alberto Di Castro, we decided to provide a complete and exhaustive catalogue as part of a comprehensive approach. As far as the drawings were concerned, our primary objective was to make the specific material that we used for our study available to anyone who might be interested in it. We are mindful that the information set out in this book goes far beyond the story of the Valadiers, as this has already been the subject of attention by eminent scholars. We therefore believe that what is covered here can make a vaulable contribution to the future studies that we hope will take place following the publication of this book.
