Abstract: L’evoluzione del lessico dell’ottica antica è qui descritta attraverso la particolarissima ‘lente’ dei Codici di Francia. I circa 220 lemmi che compongono il glossario sono esaminati nei diversi significati e contesti d’uso, confrontati con i precedenti volgari e latini e con la trattatistica cinquecentesca. È un repertorio che attinge a diversi saperi, coniugandoli con un alto tasso di originalità dei contenuti e di innovatività linguistica, per figurare e descrivere l’esperienza di Leonardo scienziato e scrittore. / The evolution of the lexicon of ancient optics is described through the 'lens' of the Codices of France. The approximately 220 entries of the glossary are examined in their various meanings and usage, compared with their Vernacular and Latin antecedents, and with the treatises of the XVIth century. It is a catalogue where different disciplines converge, with impressive original content and groundbreaking language, to show and describe Leonardo's experience as a scientist and a writer.
