La storia, l'arte, il simbolismo della Basilica di San Miniato al Monte sono esaurientemente trattati in quest'opera, pubblicata in occasione dei dieci secoli di vita dell'edificio. Il volume, che accompagna l'omonima mostra allestita presso la Galleria Pio Fedi di Firenze dal 26 maggio al 14 giugno 2007 - e una giornata di studio sulla basilica (Firenze, 26 maggio 2007), racchiude testi di Francesco Gurrieri, Renzo Manetti, Graziella Coi e Carlo Alberto Garzonio. La chiesa attuale non è il frutto di un progetto unitario realizzato in pochi decenni, ma di un lavoro durato quasi duecento anni, con continue modifiche e accrescimenti rispetto al proposito iniziale.
