Il De incantationibus, l’unica opera di Pietro Pomponazzi iscritta nell’Indice dei libri proibiti, propone una spiegazione fisica dei fenomeni magici in diretta polemica con la letteratura demonologica e inquisitoriale, che negli stessi anni andava alimentando la caccia alle streghe. Lo scritto, che ebbe un’elaborazione tormentata e che forse l’autore non considerò mai concluso, circolò ampiamente in forma manoscritta fino alla princeps curata da Guglielmo Gratarol nel 1556. / De incantationibus, the only book by Pietro Pomponazzi included in the Index of Forbidden Books, offers a physical explanation of magical phenomena in direct opposition to demonological and inquisitorial literature, which fuelled the witch-hunt in the same years. The writing was the result of laborious work and maybe the author never considered it completed. It circulated widely in manuscript form until the editio princeps of 1556 by Guglielmo Gratarol.
