I disegni, databili dalle prime prove del 1903 fino al 1930 e affiancati dalle riproduzioni dei quadri a essi riferibili, vivono di un linguaggio proprio e intenso. Oltre alla sequenza dei ritratti delle figlie, emerge un consistente gruppo di autoritratti. Sironi, variando pose, tecniche e tratto, vi attua un'impietosa scrittura autobiografica, non immune nella proposta costruzione d'immagine dall'assumere identità elettivamente ricercate nella storia della pittura.
