Abstract: Vengono approfonditi alcuni aspetti della personalità scientifica e morale di Guglielmo Libri. In particolare si descrive la sua carriera professionale dall’Ateneo Pisano all’Institut de France, si tenta per la prima volta una valutazione complessiva della sua opera matematica, si illustra la genesi de l’Histoire des Sciences Mathématiques en Italie. Il CD contiene alcuni interessanti documenti – in gran parte inediti – tra cui i diari dei due viaggi da lui compiuti a Parigi. / This volume explores in depth some aspects of Guglielmo Libri’s scientific and moral personality. It describes his professional career from the University of Pisa to the Institut de France, attempts a comprehensive evaluation of his mathematical work, explains the genesis of the Histoire des Sciences Mathématiques en Italie and emphasizes the innovative aspects of this work. The attached CD contains the transcription of some interesting documents among which Libri’s diaries from his two journeys to Paris.
