Goethe impolitico.

Le biografie di Goethe, osserva Ortega y Gasset, sono state elaborate secondo un'ottica monumentale, una visione solamente dal di fuori, a distanza e senza dinamismo interiore. Il "suo" Goethe - promette l'autore spagnolo - sarà invece costruito secondo un'ottica inversa: un "Goethe dall'interno" che, inutile al suo io, è stato proprio l'uomo che ci ha insegnato la fedeltà al nostro. Però, come scrive nella Prefazione il filosofo Stefano Zecchi, «Goethe è celebrato e ammirato, ma è il vero sconfitto della nostra civiltà che si è costruita attraverso la radicale scissione dei saperi, che ha sviluppato una modernità specializzando le conoscenze, disgregando qualsiasi idea di organicità della vita. Non c'è neppure un pezzetto di Goethe nella nostra cultura, perché lui è il più geniale antimoderno della modernità, perché la sua visione del mondo, se avesse trionfato, avrebbe configurato una diversa concezione dell'uomo sulla Terra e in Cielo». Il chiarimento della sua figura, in modo che ci possa servire, lo si può ottenere soltanto rovesciando il nostro rapporto con Goethe. Una operazione che salva il classico, usandolo senza riguardo per la nostra salvezza, un tentativo di risurrezione che lo risommerge nell'esistenza. Ne risalta un Goethe vitalmente inquieto e insoddisfatto: e lo è come il suo Faust, come Werther e Meister.

"La banda dei sospiri" (prima edizione 1976) è uno dei libri più amati e conosciuti di Gianni Celati, forse il più buffo, originale e di divertente lettura. Il protagonista, detto Garibaldi per via che corre sempre, è un ragazzino adolescente che racconta in un italiano approssimativo, e per questo abbastanza comico ed espressivo, le sue adolescenziali e accavallate avventure: in famiglia, dove tutti sono mezzi matti e furiosi, padre, fratello, zii, cugini, dove ne succedono di tutti i colori; e poi le immaginarie imprese col sesso femminile, misterioso e attraente; e le agitate idiozie della classe scolastica, e così via, in un galoppo di tutti i personaggi che ricorda i filmini di comiche.
