The long history of the European, Mediterranean, and Near Eastern religious experience, since the most remote ages, has been characterized by the presence and diffusion of mystery religions. These were marked by a common order, a general rule, consisting in the fact that all the beliefs of the cult, the foundational myths, the religious practices, and the nature of the teachings and the revelatory message of the Gods, they all had to be reserved, with different ranks, to the initiates, who have become part of an exclusive community of new men. Thus, the initiated were distinguished from the uninitiated, those who could not have access to the Mysteries. The initiated, as such, had to keep a solemn oath and were obliged to make a vow of silence, they could not reveal the secrets, which had to remain unspeakable. Many were the mystery religions, but, historically, the primacy and superiority of Eleusinian Mysteries can be well summarized by a passage offered by Plutarch: «…and all the men whose land he visited, how he met with holy writings and was initiated into all the mysteries, it would take more than one day to enumerate as he did, well and carefully in all details...».

Great philosophers of antiquity, from Plotinus to Porphyry, spoke to us about the experience of Philosophical Ecstasy as a reunion with the Absolute, with the Supreme End. And what if it also and above all involved a full connection with the Anima Mundi or with the Akashic Records? From Giordano Bruno to Tommaso Campanella, up to Arturo Reghini and Amedeo Rocco Armentano, some authentic Initiates have attempted to answer these questions.

Arturo Reghini pubblicò nel 1925 sulla rivista Ignis uno studio interpretativo di uno dei più noti testi alchemici seicenteschi, un'ode a soggetto alchemico in lingua italiana, composta da tre "canzoni", preceduta da una prefazione in Latino e seguita da un proemio e da un commento. Tale opera era stata a lungo attribuita a Otto Tachenius, un medico, farmacista e alchimista tedesco del XVII° secolo, ma Reghini intuì che questi non poteva esserne l'autore, che sarebbe dovuto essere identificato in area italiana. E infatti, nel 1956, lo storico della Massoneria Pericle Maruzzi dimostrò in un suo articolo l'effettiva paternità di questo misterioso ed enigmatico testo: ne era stato autore il Marchese Francesco Maria Santinelli, un nobile ed iniziato pesarese, poeta e cultore di Alchimia, Ermetismo e discipline misteriche ed esoteriche, molto vicino alla Regina Cristina di Svezia. Un personaggio straordinario e dalla vita avventurosa e rocambolesca, destinato a divenire, al pari di Massimiliano Savelli di Palombara, Francesco Borri, Athanasius Kircher e Federico Gualdi, uno dei principali animatori delle accademie e dei circoli ermetici ed iniziatici del suo tempo.
