Sottoscritto nell’epoca della stampa (1520), il De incantationibus rimase affidato per oltre trent’anni a un’ampia circolazione manoscritta. La dettagliata analisi codicologica, paleografica e storica compiuta sui sedici testimoni superstiti dell’opera ricostruisce i processi materiali mediante cui si diffuse la spiegazione naturale dei fenomeni magici proposta da Pomponazzi e bandita poi come eretica dalla Chiesa. Lo studio offre altresì uno scorcio sulle modalità di produzione del libro manoscritto agli inizi dell’età moderna. / Subscribed in the age of the printing press (1520), the De incantationibus circulated widely in manuscript form for over thirty years. A detailed codicological, palaeographical and historical analysis carried out on the sixteen surviving witnesses traces the spread of Pomponazzi’s natural explanation of magical phenomena, which was later banned as heretical by the Church. This study also provides an overview of manuscript book production methods in the early Modern Age.
