Questo volume – risalente alla prima metà del 1600 e attribuito allo storico Costantino Gigli – entrò nella raccolta reale inglese nel 1762. Vi sono principalmente documentati disegni di monumenti che vanno dal ’200 al ’400 – appartenenti a epoche e tipologie allora trascurate – molti dei quali sono andati perduti; per questo costituisce un documento prezioso per conoscere e ricostruire una parte così importante del corredo scultoreo delle chiese di Roma. / This volume – dating back to the first half of the 17th century and attributed to historian Costantino Gigli – entered the English royal collection in 1762. It mainly collects pictures of monuments going from the 13th to the 15th century, many of which have gone lost, that belong to ages and typologies neglected at that time. This document is therefore valuable for knowing and reconstructing an important part of the statuary in Rome’s churches.
