L'artista si iscrive all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia e a venticinque anni partecipa alla XVII Esposizione Biennale d'Arte con alcuni disegni e incisioni. Sono gli anni di "Valori plastici" e "Novecento" e il linguaggio di Minassian viene inevitabilmente accostato a tali orientamenti. A poco a poco però l'artista si allontana dal naturalismo delle opere iniziali per dedicarsi a una "straripante vivacità fantastica". Le sue tele si popolano così di forme organiche e fantastiche e si accostano al mondo della forma pura, della non rappresentazione che gli permette di raggiungere uno stile inimitabile.
